There has today been a data leak from an HIV clinic in Dean Street London. An 800 mass mailing was done rather than emails to individuals and, bearing in mind the sensitive nature of the mailing list, it is pretty serious stuff.

I don’t know about you but I am astonished at how many similar sized mailing lists I am on in the automotive industry where I receive my copy as a cc rather than as a bcc thus revealing the adresses of all the other recipients to one and all. I guess it is ignorance on the part of the sender but at the very least mailing lists are part of your IP – so why would you give the names away anyway under any circumstances?

I just don’t get it.
