2016 predictions.

As with many newspapers, The Financial Times http://www.ft.com today makes its predictions for 2016 as well as admitting to failed predictions for 2015 – most notably predicting a hung parliament for the UK.

Key predictions for 2016 include:

Hillary Clinton will win the US presidential election.

Britain will stay in the EU.

Assad will remain nominally president of Syria.

The Bank of England will not raise interest rates.

Jeremy Corbyn will remain leader of the Labour Party.

Sales of diesel engined cars will fall in Europe.

Brent crude will be above $50 at the end of the year.

George Osborne will scrap tax relief for pensions in his March budget.
